problem with installing CAB files

hi, please help me with this problem:

i have orange SPV C500. Installing *.hme homescreens have no problems, but in *.cab files smart writes me always the same: Installation failed, your system can't install cab files. Always this message with homescreens in cab format.

And 2nd question: what's hard reset? how to do it?

Your phone might be application lock.

Hard Reset - that is to reset the phone to its original config or Restore Factory Settings, shall I call it.

1. Turn OFF the phone.

2. Press and Hold the Record Button

3. While pressing the record button press the Power button until you see the msg "press any key...to load the boatloader"

4. Now press and hold the action button (center button of the stick)

5. there will be the first 8 choices, choose ERASE IPSM

Note: You must remove your SD Card to have a successful hard reset.

Do you have problems installing ALL cab files? Can you give examples of cab files which failed to install on your phone?

Best thing to do is to fully app-unlock your phone. You can follow the app-unlocking procedures on this thread:

There are two methods to decertify your phone:

1. Over the Air method

2. Using the tool from Orange

Both methods are discussed in the link I gave you above. Check it out.

As for hard reset..

Hard reset procedures on the C500 is different from that of the Tanager. Kindly have a look at this thread:

Please be advised that a hard reset process will restore your phone to factory defaults. You should backup important data on \Storage (contacts, SMS, programs) before doing a hard reset.

I wrote email to orange developers, i hope that wil be OK. When they send the exe file, I write here if it goes or not.

When I registered here server sends me always the same emails with viagra and blalbla...

How can I stop this?

Hi

You have to be patient. Developers will send you the tool if they are not busy.

Im sure MoDaCo wont send you Viagra emails. Those are not even phone- related :shock:

It's not the fact taht you registered here it's the fact that you put your emauil address in your post so any spider trawling the net can find it.

NEVER post an email address in a form that can be used use the word at instead of @ or leave spaces or some other means of fooling spiders.

Now you've done it you will not stop the spam. Best thing to do is close that email address and get a new one but DON'T post it where the spammers can find it.
