Guest vavoom Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Anyone else experiencing issues with Sprite Backup? After using Sprite for weeks with success, I upgraded to ActiveSync 4.0. Still worked well, then I update my rom to 1.39 Cingular and in the restore process, Sprite stated it had to start in Guest mode. Now I cannot get it out of Guest mode and ActiveSync has been disabled in some fashion. I can see, the settings but they are greyed out and not accessable. I can't enable synchronize, mobile device or delete mobile device. As a result, I can't download email or update contacts either. I have already reset my mpx phone, re installed Active Sync and Sprite. Suggestions?? I've already left a similar message on the Sprite forum and there seems to be others with the same issue. HELP!!!

HELP!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure if it will help you or not but I am going to try to help you. You stated in the restore process sprite says it has to start in the guest mode??? There is an option in the restore process "updating from a different rom". Check that option and try to restore. If this does not work. You may have to re-install all the applications. In order to do that, open Active synch WITHOUT attaching the smartphone. Click file>and you will see a black dot next to Device id, make sure that dot is next to the Device id/name that you used last with older ROM. Click delete partnership. Then hook up phone to the synch cable. Active synch will prompt you to set up a new partnership. Follow the onscreen prompts. It will synchronize all the out look contents. If/When prompted, click Replace contents of mobile device with PC. Now, you are ready to reinstall applications. Easiest way in my opinion will be to open active syn (if not already running), click on Tools, then add/remove. Click the programs you want to install and click ok. Then you follow the onscreen prompts on phone (where do you want to install the program, memory card or phone etc..). Keep in mind, you will have to enter ALL the registration codes for individual programs just like when you had bought the program. Once in a while, certain programs will fail to accept the "old" reg code, in that case contact the developer. Hope this helps.
