Guest feck_on_a_stick Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Hi guys I started an Orange contract in January 2003 and got offered the Orange World Access package trial which gave me 3MB free every month along with my E200. I didnt realise that after the year was up it simply gets taken off and Ive only discovered last month that without it they charge £10 per 1MB download! Surely this is daylight robbery?!?! Would it not make more sense to start billing the customer for the price of the package? (which I think was 3 or 4 quid for 3MB) I had noticed at the start my bills had gone up 15/20 quid but had just started seein my girl and thought it was due to her looking constant texts texts from me, but when I moved house and was left without any internet for 3 weeks my lovely C500 did everything for me ;) it was only when i was charged £80 for surfing that I realised what was going on. I went into the Orange shop and said to them and they rang cs who said it was an error on their part for removing it and that my bills would get sorted so when this bill came in I couldnt believe nothing had been done about it. Now cs tell me (after another months use) that I was still surfing on the £10 per MB rate and that its just my hard luck. Surely £150 is a bit much for a few nights on the net and messenger over the last few months? If this is simply my mistake for bein stupid then Ill have to sulk and put up with it, but has anyone else been stung with this Orange World malarky or can offer any advice? I have always been a believer that Orange were the best out there and I loved my E200 and my C500, but this sorta thing is enough to make a grown man cry and go skulking off to the enemy!!! ;)
Guest JamieDow Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 That sucks, well it's changed. The catch is now they don't take it off so if you only wanted it whilst it was free you have to remember to ring up and cancel it.

Guest pjam001 Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 I know for a fact that Orange have a rather sneaky £10/mb tariff if they forget to put you on the £3/mb pay as you use tariff. I don't know why they have it other than to catch people out. I was stung after dropping off a free trial bundle but was prepared and aware of this rip off. I phoned them up, explained that I knew they had done wrong and I was credited the next month.

I was going to say their PAYU tarriff is £3/mb, I knew nothing of the £10/Mb tarriff but then I'm on the £4/ 4Mb tarriff (and £1/Mb after that.
Guest dolphinsmile Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Orange did the same to me. I joined there 4mb per month club, went over the 4mb limit which should have been charged 80p a meg but they scewed up and charge a small fortune. I phoned them and they corrected it but only because I check every bill now. Orange really are a horrible company. I'v been with them for 8 years now so I feel I know a little about them and their tricks. I used to get free wine and amazon credits even trips around europe and garden plants. They then stopped that to enhance their service to me. BULLSHIP I say. They only have my soul for 3 more months then I'm free again............. to sell it back to them.
Guest shuurajou Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Hi there, They are correct in telling you this was a mistake on Orange's part. The £10 a mb charge occurs when an error is made on Orange's systems and you have /no/ active GPRS bundles. By standard, you should of at least had the 'pay as you use' product, which charges you at the normal £3 a mb. So, you should have been charged, £3 a mb, not £10, and they should credit your account to reflect this. This isn't something which you should be told 'tough s***' for. Your bill should be adjusted, crediting you back, and leaving the charges that would have occurred had you been billed correctly. Call 156, they understand the problem (the wirefree data support team). Let me know how you get on.
