restoring text messages

Hi all, any help would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance

I recently reinstalled my spv c500 with the rom update from orange's website to operator version 4.1.1.4 and all went well and i also synchronized up all my contacts, appointments, etc... so nothing was lost there

However, I wasnt sure that text messages were synchronized and just incase they wern't, i copied the 'Storage/Windows/Messaging' Folder assuming these were all my text messages 8-[ to my computer so that when the update was done i could copy it back in and have them all back. Nothing happenend and my messages are not there. Is this folder actually all my text messages? if so how can i restore them into my phone???
