Sending a contact via SMS

I just received an sms from a friend asking for me to forward him a friends phone number. I couldn't add a number from my phone book into the text of the sms message. I had to write it down and type it in.

Is there a way to do this without trying to remember the number or writing down?

find some software that does it . . . either look round here or coolsmartphone
