Guest dancingbob5678 Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 I'm on my third ATT type SMT 5600: Each one has suffered from freezing up. The only way I can then use it is by removing and replacing the battery. This typically happens when I disconnect the usb connection from the phone after synching. I'm using XP and AS3.8. I've had the same problem with As 3.7. (I guess that I could try IR synching, but I'd rather not.) Sometimes it will freeze just during normal phone usage. Incidentally, now I use the phone's task manager to shut down all processes that I accessed while connected to my computer, but, about 50% of the time, I still get a freeze after disconnection. By the way, I've had this problem since the very beginning back in November '04. Your ideas and suggestions will be appreciated! Bob

For me, the freezing comes randomly, but usually when I'm running a lot of stuff, like betaplayer and other apps i forget to close. What is ATT's policy on replacing the phones? Free? Thanks, Gene

Thanks, Gene <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gene: It took six weeks - and many calls to their customer service (800 229 1235 - go to warranty dept) to get my phone replaced by Audiovox. Paid for the phone $320 plus $20 for overnight shipping and return authorization. After they inspected my phone and found no physical or liquid damage, they returned the $320. I suspect that they are out of ATT phones now and may only have the Cingular version
