Headphone Socket Problem

Hi guys

I brought a Orange C500 on payg in march and i am loving the phone and have been getting on with it well.

The thing is yesterday for the second time since i have had my phone my profile would not change automatically when i took out the headphones. I took the headphones out in the usual way i do its not as if i pulled them really hard. But usually when taking out the headphones it will change the profile because it has registered me taking them out. But for the second time yesterday it didnt register me taking them out. This is annoying becuase it wont actually let u change the profile.

Eventually after several attempts of putting the headphones in then pulling them back out it registered the headphones had been unplugged. But i was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem and what they think i should do about it. How long do i have a warrenty on my phone? I brought it from mobiledealer.co.uk so if i took it to an orange shop would they fix my phone for me for free or would I have tosend it back to them? Is it worth it since it has only happened twice? or should i just keep an eye on it?

Sorry for all the questions just a bit concerned as i havent had the phone long and other than that i am loving it, its the best phone ive had!!

Anywayz just post what u think

Cheers.

HI,

HAVE JUST READ ABOUT YOUR PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM, MY SPVC500 IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER UPGRADING TO THE PHONE. AS I DO NOT PAY ORANGE FOR INSURANCE MY PHONE WAS SENT AWAY TO BE REPAIRED UNDER ITS 1 YEAR WARRANTY. ABOUT 5 WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED MY PHONE BACK IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. THE ORANGE SHOP SAID THAT THEY HAD CHANGED THE IMEI NUMBER BUT I THINK THAT THEY ACTUALLY REPLACED THE HANDSET. LAST WEEK I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SO I HAVE JUST SENT MY PHONE AWAY AGAIN. HOPEFULLY IT WONT TAKE 5 WEEKS THIS TIME! I WOULD RECOMMEND FIRST VISITING AN ORANGE SHOP AND THEN GOING BACK TO WHERE YOU PURCHASED THE PHONE. I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING EITHER TIME BUT WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY £7.99 THE SECOND TIME IF THE PROBLEM WAS FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

I HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER LUCK WITH YOUR C500 THAN I HAVE HAD WITH MINE.

I HAVE NOW CHANGED OVER TO A T-MOBILE SDA AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS YET, FINGERS CROSSED!

HAS ANYONE ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH LOADS OF DUST GETTING UNDER THE SCREEN?

If you're still talking about the c500 - pretty much everyone has. Either send it back to HTC or clean it yourself (makes a *huge* difference but opening the case (or more specifically the bit above the camera is a pain) - remember it invalidates your warranty.

See that but just above SHIFT and below TAB - it stops you TYPING LIKE THIS - WHICH IS DEAD ANNOYING!!!
