Guest kr2004jp Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 (edited) Today a friend give me a SD card 256MB ram which made by toshiba SD-256 (made in Japan). I have put it in my phone (I've never use any SD card before, just use it as usual phone anyway). After back to home I put the card into my card reader want to transfer some files to the card, but it had deined which stated that the card had protected and can't delete or insert any data into. But I can create new or delete folder by the card in my phone. And I am also can't format it in my card reader, when I right click I saw the card is read only, then I try to unclick it and change it to archieve, I can't do it and it just denied my order and said the file is protection. So what's the problem with it? and how can I solve it? Is my Window XP's problem (my file format is NTFS). Please help. Thanks. P.S. And I'm for sure that the safety lock isn't turned on. Guest BrAGoL Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 have you tried formatting it in your phone via Binary's Task Manager?
Guest kr2004jp Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 have you tried formatting it in your phone via Binary's Task Manager? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where is the Binary's Task Manager located? I can hardly find it. Thanks.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 You can get Task Manager from www.binarys.com
Guest kr2004jp Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 You can get Task Manager from www.binarys.com <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Today I purchased a brand new Samsung MMC card (256MB) and insert into my card reader, get the exactly same result (can format or transfer any type of file into it, a window came out and claimed that the card had protection). Does it mean its my card reader's problem or window's problem? (I'm using Window XP in NTFS Format). The card reader is an eagletec 13 in 1 card reader, other drive I used before didn't have this kind of problem.....:****(
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Try formatting it on the phone with Task Manager see what happens. There can be occasional problems with card readers so it may be worth trying the card on a friends reader.

Guest kr2004jp Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Get it from sourceĀ ;) ActiveSync from MS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for your help man!! In fact, is that the only software that is in the CD or there still other software I need to install on the phone?
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 There's nothing else you need to install on the phone, though there may have been some demos on the disc of stuff you can get elsewhere - games, utilities etc. The only other thing would have been a copy of Outlook 2002 which I guess you already have.
