Guest med3d Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 HI all Modacomen, Here's the issue: I recently tried to turn on my smartphone as usual (since the battery doesn't last more than 2 days , 3 when I'm lucky) but it stops itself on the first bootscreen!!! No way to go further. i couldn't even shut it down. Then what I did is what you'd probably have done : I put off the battery then I did start it one more time. Nothing happens more than showing that first bootscreen. Please, dear scientits in Smartphonology :-k , after hard research, I admit that I have found no other solution than going back to my retailer to have it repaired. Thanx a lot to answer. PS: I haven't tried the Master Reset as you may understand ](*,)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 If you are stuck on the boot screen you hasve two things to try, first off enter the Master Reset screen but then select the option NO then if the phone does not boot back to normal the only option then is to do a full Master Reset with the option Yes.

This might sound strange, I've had the same problem, but I found a solution: when I kept the phone closed while turning it on it would boot just fine to the 'enter PIN code' screen. It probably won't help you but it worked for me anyway. And the master reset was perfectly safe also, just make sure the battery is full. Edited May 24, 2005 by starwave

Assuming it's not faulty, what awarner has suggested it spot on: 1) remove the battery and leave the phone for a minute or so 2) put in the battery and DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE PHONE ON 3) hold the blue button down very firmly, then press the on button in while still holding the blue button. You will have to hold both these buttons for about 5 secs, maybe more. Its important to press the blue button first and not let it go. I can't stress that enough!! 4) "Master reset yes/no" should appear. Then you can try the yes/no thing as awarner said. If the phone doesnt show the master reset screen, then I am afraid it doesnt look good. 5) if you have to master reset, it's no big deal really. I have to master reset the mpx200 appx every 2 months. It's normal!

Maybe that's why I got bad battery life when I was running WM2002. You have to have a full battery even for a master reset?? doh!! ;)
Guest med3d Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 OK, thank you for this helpful answers; but anyway I had to master reset it ;) But my battery wasn't charged to its full capacity, what does it change? Have I done something wrong? Tell me before I install my previous programs, cause I might do a master reset again but with the battery fully loaded this time. I look forward to an answer.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 not having a fully charged battery when you do master reset can give you reduced battery life. The phone appears to calibrate its battery level on a master reset.
