Guest The Undefeated Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Ok my sim card got blocked (it was an accident) but whatever, i ring up orange wait 35 mins to get through, get the PUK code. I enter the PUK code but i cant press done as it is still shaded out, and the Action button doesnt do anything either. Spend another 15 mins talking with orange apparantly pressing the on/off switch (like bringing up the quick select menu) brings up a set of modes - no it damn well doesnt. Exactly the same problem with a freinds C500 (using my sim card) - Im guessing a software problem. And i have the C500 rom update from many months ago, my friend does not. Orange said that theyd send the problem to their technical team and that theyd get back to me - im not putting my hopes up. So any ideas on whats causing the problem, and how the hell i can fix it without having to go to an orange shop to show them the problem wait for hours and finaly get it fixed after five minutes of actually doing something?

Good Luck ;)
Guest Seraphic Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 How about putting the sim card in a different mobile and unblocking it using that?
Guest bolasz Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I've never seen how the c500 is telling you that yuor pin is blocked and asks for the puk code, but if you can enter characters like you would dial, you can unblock it with this code: **05*PUK1*new PIN1*new PIN1#

Guest The Undefeated Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I have now also tried another phone (original SPV) but it still doesnt work. Im thinking there is a problem with my sim card because when i had the original SPV it got blocked and i had no problem fixing it.
Guest AaronW Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I had exactly the same problem with my C500. I put in the puk code and pressed done but it just would not take it. I tried it in my flatmates C500 and got the same. Took it into work and put it into a Nokia, put the PUK in and then it unlocked it. Must be a software fault on the SPVs
Guest mossywell Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Must be a software fault on the SPVs <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Possibly, though clearly not all of them as I had no problem entering a puk1 code on my C500. Hard to know how my C500 differs (at the time it was running ROM 4.1.1.4) :?:

Guest TimG Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I've got exactly the same problem. It happened a couple of days ago. The helpdesk girl couldn't find the same problem in her system so she's just sending me out a new SIM, but that's going to take a few days. Strange that Orange isn't familiar with the problem but two of us have come across it at exactly the same time.
Guest The Undefeated Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Yeah, orange are a bit stupid, i mean, the SPV was theirs, it was exlusive to them, and they still didnt know all about it. On the C500 they didnt know how to hard reset it. Thats a pretty important thing to know, and when i had my original SPV which was exlusive to them, they thought a hard reset was to take the battery out for a few minutes

Took phone to work and used a colleage Ericsson K750i open to all networks and keyed in the PUK. Looks like a buggy software as it failed on my spv-c500
