I had a strange this happen to my C500 over the W/E. I got us Saturday morning to find the battery was about to expire. The phone had been plugged in to my PC at work via the USB cable all day like it always is. There were no programs running and BT was turned off. So I plugged it into the mains charger which worked fine. I received one call on Saturday (yes I know not the most popular bloke on the planet) then Sunday morning the battery was about dead again. After charging it up with the mains charger again and a couple of calls later Monday morning the battery was dead.

I called orange and they said they'd heard of the problem but didn't have an answer for me about what to do.

Today the battery is behaving fine having been plugged in to my UBS cable again yesterday.

Has anybody else had the same problem and if so what was the outcome?

The phone is only about 6 weeks old so it shouldn't be a knackered battery problem.

I've had exactly the same problem a couple of weeks ago but, like with yourself, it just went away.

The battery had been full as I went to bed and was dead when I woke up

Only suggestion I can make is that maybe there was a problem with the local Orange transmitters/network meaning you had a much reduced signal in your area of a short time, meaning your phone was working much harder tracking/keeping a signal.

I've heard that poor signal strenght makes phones work harder and so batteries run out faster. Could be that.

My battery problem was all down to a small, free alarm application that was killing the battery dead in less than 24 hours. Uninstall, reset and everything was fine. (Think it was called SPAlarm)

Yeah - I had the exact same problem. Battery was going flat within about 12 hours. I ended up just shutting the phone off and charging it up that way - all has been fine since :s

As for the problem possibly being with transmitters, it is true that being in an area with poor coverage (whether it be temporarily poor or permanently so) will cause the phone to use up it's battery quicker as the phone has to transmit at a higher power rating in order for it's signal to reach the network station. However, having lived in a flat where signal strength was poor to abysmal 24/7, I would still get 2 to 3 days of battery life out of my phone so I don't think that this was the "cause". I suspect that it is more likely to be an application or part of the OS playing up/having problems.

Cool I'll go with that one & I'll steer clear of that app. I am looking for a better alarm clock though one that let you press snooze with out having to scroll through menus when your half asleep. Also the ability set which days you want to wake up at the crack of dawn (not that dawn minds) i.e. not the weekend.

Any suggestions?
