Guest andyhud Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 (edited) Ok.. So when I got my phone I could charge it with the USB cable or the standard power charger. Then one day that stopped. I could only charge using the USB cable when my PC is on. I've actually got 2 supported normal mains power chargers but neither work, but it charges fine using the USB. I've flashed numerous ROMS before and after this problem occured, and nothing has made any difference. Master Resets don't make any difference either. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas why it might only charge using the USB all of sudden. The contacts on both the mains power chargers and on the actual phone are absolutely fine. Any ideas chaps? Usually pushing it forward (towards front of phone) or backwards (towards battery) does the trick. Hope this helps.

I've got my new battery for my MPX220 now and again that charges fine with the USB lead but nothing with the normal power connector. Any last ditch ideas out there?? Andy

New Battery.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Last guess... it could be a hardware problem, that is the phone's internal circuit that manages the battery charging from the mains charger may be dead. If I were you, I would put the phone on the charger and have the battery cover removed. Then I would check the current with a voltmeter on the pins where battery touches for charging. First make sure the battery is completely dead so the voltage is low, then put it in the phone and plug the charger, then check the voltage over there. The voltage should be 5.9v. Check that in regular time intervals to check whether the current remains the same. Hope it helps, at least to find out what is going wrong..
