Guest Chiz Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 When I depress the power button on my C500, the screen freezes and does not turn off. If I half depress, goto the Quick List and slelect Power off, it also freezes. In order to turn it off (to get homescreens working, things to appear in menus) I have to remove the battery. Before I try a hard reset or take it back under warranty I wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Does the rebooting to enable certain bits of homescreens seem normal? I did have the motherboard replaced before if that makes any difference. Thanks Chiz
Guest Confucious Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Have you installed some new software recently? Try taking out the memory card and seeing if it still does it. Sounds like dodgy s/ware to me (I hope you install all your s/ware to the memory card not internal memory?) HTH
Guest Chiz Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 (edited) Have you installed some new software recently? Try taking out the memory card and seeing if it still does it. Sounds like dodgy s/ware to me (I hope you install all your s/ware to the memory card not internal memory?) HTH <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes I have. I think I have done a bit of both, internal and card storage. Until recently I hadn't realised it was best to put it on the card, may sound silly I know. Took card out and it powers down properly, which from what you say about might be better than if it was still not working. Does that imply something on the msd card is having the undesired effect? EDIT: I have just noticed that Mobiluck and PHM Registry Editor are now unassociated files in my Start Menu which could mean they were on the card but I am not imlying they caused the problem. I have also put a few vids on the card. Thanks for you help Edited May 25, 2005 by Chiz
Guest Confucious Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 It is almost certainly something on your card. If you can remember what it was you installed just before the problem arose then try un-installing that, if not just uninstall one program at a time until you find which is causing the problem. I wouldn't have thought it was a vid but you could remove them if it's not a program (you can always copy them back once you've sorted the problem. Let us know how you get on. Good luck ;)
Guest Chiz Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 (edited) Nice one Confucious, I will try unistalling (and remembering which I put on recently) Of course I will let everyone know how I get on. EDIT: I think I spoke too soon as it would not turn off with the msd card out just now. Ill try removing some software and see what happends. Out of interest, some of my home screens (called RSHD) won't allow me to remove them, is there are way round this? I think my phone needs a good tidy up. Thanks Chiz Edited May 25, 2005 by Chiz
Guest Chiz Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 I still have the problem after getting rid of quite a few apps. I notice the awarner said that putting ringtones on the sd card could cause the phone to be unstable. Does anyone think that this may be the problem as this is where mine are stored? Thanks
