Guest dazza12 Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I've been chasing Orange for several months, regarding the fact that those of us that got their M2000's in November/December seem to have considerably older ROM versions than the newer phones. I've been asking regularly whether a new ROM is in the works, and if it is when it will be released. Yesterday, after jumping from pillar to post (and after about 3 months of bugging them), they finally admitted that there is no ROM image that they will release. However, it's not all bad news. They did listen to me, and agreed that it was a problem. They've replaced my M2000 with a brand new one, which appears to have later ROM versions than the one I had. They didn't charge the admin fee. They said they normally would have, but 'let me off just this time'. To which I replied that it shouldn't be applied for a warranty issue anyway. Just to check, can anyone tell me if these are indeed the latest official Orange versions (I know there's a later BT patch): Bluetooth: 1.0.0 Build 3500 Operator: 5.31.1.124 ROM version: 1.31.00 WWE ROM date: 12/13/04 Radio version: 1.06.02 Protocol ver: 1337.38 ExtROM ver: 1.31.124 WWE Also, has any TomTom users who've had their phone replaced managed to get new activation codes from TomTom? I've contacted their support dept, but they are asking for proof of replacement. Except Orange don't supply proof.

Guest Pondrew Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 (edited) Just an update. There's a post on today claiming to have a legitimate link to the latest Orange SPV M2000 rom as mentioned in this thread. Here's the post Edited June 9, 2005 by Pondrew
Guest gilbobs Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Just an update. There's a post on today claiming to have a legitimate link to the latest Orange SPV M2000 rom as mentioned in this thread. Here's the post <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The download youve referred to from orange originates from THB who produce the take and talk cradle for the M2000. Goto the section for Hands-free car kits and underneath the products for M2000 theres a footnote that applies to xda and m2000 www.thb.de Prior to this revision, the ring tone on the phone would not be fed through to the car audio sytem, only when you accepted the call did the car audio system kick in. Ive now done the Rom upgrade and from my experience it only updates the extended rom. On another note you can run the program and it tells you the difference between your existing version of ROM and the update versions before uploading. My rom image now stands at: Operator Version 5.31.1.162 ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE ROM Date: 12/13/04 Radio Version: 1.06.02 Protocol Version: 1337.38 ExtROM version: 1.31.162 WWE One other point ive noticed is that, ive not experieced the issue of the microphone being disabled under certain conditions when playing with the bluetooth (GPS), ie i can hear them, but they cant hear me, which normally results in a reset. I would be interested to know if anyone can confirm this
Guest Pondrew Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Explains why there are minor differences between the latest SPV roms out there and the downloadable one. Even if it only adds new hardware compatibility it's still progress though as Orange never made their latest rom dated 12/13/04 available. I'm guess they took this rom as a base so at least now peeps with older SPV M2000s can bring them upto date. Assuming of course that it IS a complete rom and doesn't just update the external rom. You're probably right that the only changes are to the extended rom.
