Guest TipsyMcStagger Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I am trying to connect my c500 to my PC via a usb bluetooth dongle. I can get it to activesync over BT, although not consistently - i.e. sometimes it works fine, other times it drops the connection mid-way or will not connect at all. On the occasions it works I then try to browse the internet on the phone, which also works initially, but the connection always drops after a few mins, and not just when the connection is idle. Should it be possible to maintain a BT connection more or less continuously, or is this dropping of the connection some sort of "feature" e.g. power saving?
Guest TipsyMcStagger Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Solved it - I was using a crappy no-name device from ebuyer (SafeCom branded). I gave up after several hours f**king about, and bought a Class I Belkin device instead. Had it up and ActiveSyncing over BT within 10 mins and it holds the connection until you move out of range.
Guest Confucious Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Never heard of a "faulty" BT device before (I have an el cheapo BT dongle I bought years ago. But you bought a Belkin? Aaaaaaaaaaasarghhhhhhhh! ;)
Guest TipsyMcStagger Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Why do you say that, have you had a bad experience? It worked straight away for me, and was the same price as the no-name anyway!

Belkin are cheap and cheerful - if it works, great but so many of there things don't work and there support is non existantthat I would never by another thing from them. But yours works so it's fine ;)
