SPV C500 backup or reset?

Hi folks,

I'm totally new to Windows Mobile, with an SPV C500.

I'm wondering is there a way to backup all the data on my phone, and do I need to backup the OS at all?

Is there any way to "reinstall" Windows on the phone should it crash, and/or just to generally reset it?

You can backup the contents of the phone using the Orange Backup Program (located in Start>Orange>Back Up)... but to backup onto your PC I think you have to buy a program called Sprite (?) backup. However, there is no need to backup the OS, to reinstall it, turn off the phone, hold down the two softkeys/menu buttons just below the screen, then press the power button. Keep holding the two softkeys until you reach a screen saying something like 'Press 0 to ....' then press 0 to wipe the phone and re-install windows..

Is Windows actually held in ROM somewhere on the phone, or does it need a CD? (With the phone connected to the PC)

I'm guessing it must be held on the phone.

It's held in ROM on the phone so can't get corrupted so you should never need to re-install it.

wrong my friend, mine completely crashed - I was also unable to hardreset the phone :exclaim: this was really bad since it costed me a lot of money to send in the phone to Audiovox (I'm using SMT 5600) had to pay for shipping tho they didn't charge me. They coudln't fix it themselves so they sent me a replacement. Speaking of which, I would like somehow to have an installation file and go to the tri color screen should anything happen again so I can reflash rom. Audiovox hasn't put any installations to reflash rom, and there is no way I would send it in again since 2 expensive. My phone was unlocked, the one they sent me was locked so I had to pay another 50$ to unlock it! Anyways, so it can crash, just backup everything. Also guys, if theres no way to relfash the rom from audiovox, I can still reflash it with the UK ROM right cuz again, theres no way I would resend it to audiovox. well, I hope it wont break and I wont application unlock the phone since if I download a malacious program then it can take advtange of that. Thx!
