Guest kwoodbridge Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 1) Firstly, I have my phone permanently set to vibrate and keep it in my pocket whilst at work for text messages, etc. The problem is that although I have the notification set to 'vibrate' and no screen notification, everytime I get a text the screen automatically comes on there have been times when I have then inadvertently turned the camera or voicedial on. I have tried everythinng including putting a pinlock on so that although the screen will turn on the phone is locked, but even then it seems to queue the instructions - ie, when I do unlock it, it will immediately turn the camera or voicedial on. The other thing I tried was to get the phone to auto powerdown if not used for 1 minute, so at least it reduces the chance of accidental button presses, but even then, a minute is still a long time if I accidentally voice dial someone I don't mean to!!!! Ideally what I want is for the phone to vibrate, but the screen to stay off - any ideas? 2) I know this has probably been answered before, but I have the MDA Compact from t-mobile - can I use the i-mate jam update or will this do my unit damage? If I can use it, where do I get it from, and is it worth doing? I nudge in the direction of the right post would be much appreciated!

About the JAM rom, it can't really be discussed on this forum (forums rules), but you should look to the xda-developers forum for that. It can be done.
