Guest djyox Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Ok, so this is my first phone I've ever payed more than $150 for. I just moved over to cingular and droped my crapy phone, and picked up this mpx220 because the razor was too basic.. Anyhow, I would love to beef this phone up with videos and pictures, and some nice apps and maybe a game or two. I have no idea what I am doing, and searched these forums for a bit before posting, and have learned a bit about where to go to get stuff. I've gotten a 256 card for it, but thats it so far, no downloads, no nothing. I don't even have a diffrent background. I've had this phone for two months, and now its time to play with it. Let me know what your all doing with them... I do love the black cover look, but I dunno if I could do that... Thanks in advnce for all info! -Nick Will be more than happy to answer any questions you may need to know for correct info.
Guest Paraklas Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 I would reccomend before installing any software (ringtones, games, applications, etc) to get the latest firmware available (if you haven't done that already) which is v.1.43 for cingular phones. You can find out if you have the latest firmware by going to: Start, Settings, About, and then scroll down until you find Manufacturer.
Guest cortez Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 i'd also recommend reading some other forums (Mobile Gadget News and the Smartphone Forums on Howard Forums) to get a full understanding of the phone and it's capabilites. be patient with changes to the phone...be sure you understand what your doing - and the possible implications of your actions - patience is important! have fun!
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 No need to go to other (inferior :D ) forums, just have a look in the FAQs & Articles sections here. To start with, have a look at the 'First 48 Hours' thread linked in my sig. ;)

Guest djyox Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Thanks guys, I do wanna take it slow! I really don't want my $400 paper weight... I have 1.3 build, and will read up on upgrading it. I've just started looking into all of this so, I will be loven the info!!!! Thanks again, I do know that I want Pocket TV I believe? and what is a good nav app? Thanks again guys!
Guest djyox Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Also, where do I download the new 1.43, and what about the plug-ins for homescreen, do those come with the download of a new home screen, or do I have to get them else where? Thanks again!!

Always question. Always search for new ideas ;) and I apologise for being rude - should have read your sig  Update ROMs are only legally available from the operators' sites or from Motorola. MPx220 owners get a raw deal though so be patient. Forum rules here forbid members from uploading copies or requesting same from other members. Just so you know :D Some homescreen authors will include the relevant plugins with their creations. Some plugins are commercial and need to be bought from the usual software suppliers (Handango etc.) There is also a pretty good listing here in the Customisation section.
