Porting Drivers

Not knowing a lot about software, but having a friend who does, I was wondering; how hard is it to port across from PPC to SP? And are things like drivers "portable"?

I hope someone replies even if only to say "Alex you dumb schmuck, do you know anything at all????"

drivers are really just programs that are compiled for a target machine, that other programs on that machine can then use bits of

if you have the source code, the OS's aren't too different, the hardware can support the function you want, and a tail-wind - they you should be fine ;)
