Guest scsi Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Hi, This is my first post, so I hope that this is the right forumt to ask. I am very interseted in the Qtek8020 smartphone, but where ever I read about it, people are complaining about bad joystics, buttons falling of after just a few days of use... I am sure that they get this taken care of through the waranty, but is still unacceptable to my. I simply don't want to be forced to send my phone for repairs, and to have problems with the paint falling of the buttons, wich also seems common. I want a smartphone, and since I have had a PocketPC with WM for a long time, I am used to the OS, and like it alot. I would hate to go over to Symbian and Nokia, but it seems that I have no choice. ;) The Qtek 8020 (Sp3i, if you like) is the only MS-smartphone small enough to fit my needs, but I simply get the impression that - and I absolutely don't want to flame - HTC-phones and PDA's are realy low-budget, which, of course, means low quality. Qtek8020 looks realy good, and it would be an obvious choice for me - if only I cout get it without having to wory about then the joystick will stop working, or when a button will fall of. I hope that you would tell my that HTC has worked out all their quality issues, and that all is fine with the new models, but I realize that it would be far fetched. I would, how ever, be glad if you could post your thoughts on this topic. Best regards /Daniel
Guest Paraklas Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Had an i-mate SP3i. 1. Joystick stopped working (down/right move) after 2 weeks of regular use 2. Paint peeled off the joystick after a month. Engineers in HTC/ i-mate should know better from all that paint doesn't stick on shiny surfaces (joystick for example) 3. I agree that the construction seems to be low budget but I can't tell for sure since I didn't have any problems like buttons popping out etc. Nice phone, super fast.. but still.. I don't have the time and patience to send it for repairs. It's like sending your car to the engineer because after 2 weeks of use, wheels just popped out while you were driving and the roof paint peeled off:) ;)
Guest danman_dk Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 howdy scsi, been using the 8020 for over a month with no physical worries yet (screen is scratched like a mofo though). the only real issues i have with it is the usability (software), but that is Smartphones in general (used to SONY and NOKIA phones). not a true fan, but from the other choices right now, i don't think this little guy is that bad...
