Hi,

Does anyone know where the call history is stored is it a file or registry?

And can an individual call that has been deleted from the list be restored?

Thanks..

I don't know where it's stored but I would be very suprised if you could restore it once somethings been deleted.

I it is stored in mxip_initdb.vol

http://www.modaco.com/mxip_initdbvol-t94022.html

And if pzee thinks that then you can be pretty certain that's where it is, but I believe I'm right in saying the .vol file can't be edited and if something is gone from it there is no way of getting it back.

Why do you need to restore it anyway? (just out of curiosity)

pzee is right, however there is an api for reading and writing to these files (although sometimes they may be locked in surprising ways.)

It won't give you undelete but if you wanted an app to put spurious info into your call history (don't ask why) I could have a look and post some code snippets to help.

Someone has been using my phone and deleting the calls from my list, was wondering if I could get the numbers before the bill arrived..

No panic tho;

Cheers

There's a little app call CallLogDump.exe (or similar) included in Paul's SmartJournal app. I use that to dump my call history into CSV (although I've never managed to get SmartJournal itself working)

You could put that in your Start Up folder and it will automatically dump every time you start the phone. It only takes 1 second to run.

The other thing you could try is creating a speed dial to the Call Log, and then setting the Call Log icon to "Hidden". That way they wont easily be able to get to it

LOL...

The CallLogDump.exe is an app I made for paul which is what I was gonna post code snippets from ;-)

Hi people!

I've got only one question: Is it possible to export/import to mxip_initdb.vol?

May be Smartione in future will let to edit and save changes in mxip_initdb.vol file?

Thank you in advance!

I've read there... Thank you. It's a bit different...

The problem still persist. I mean that should be some sowftware wich could read mxip_initdb.vol and export all information from it to txt/csv/xls or even mdb file and import edited information to mxip_initdb.vol again.

May be it's a dream? ;)

hi spacemonkey - is there a chance that you can write a slightly different program re this, on top of what's being done for smart journal?

a suggestion of what would be useful is something similar to what iMeter was able to do for sp2002, but not able to do anymore for 2003/se.... an app that would be able to count the total number of minutes you've spent so far for a particular month, so that you'll know how much you're going to be billed for ahead of time.

while smart journal is a useful app and having your call logs in outlook is very helpful, i dont think outlook's journal is capable of doing this, because it seems to round the duration of the call to the nearest minute. so for some calls that are less than a minute, it misses the count (a 30 second call from 04h:01m:45s to 04h:02m:15s woule be counted by outlook as a 0 minute call from 04h:02 to 04h:02m, whereas it really counts a 1 minute in your billing cycle). but correct me if i'm wrong, maybe i'm just missing something here!

i've been searching everywhere for an app like this that would work for sp2003/se, since it seems that iMeter development has been dropped, and am surprised no one has risen to the task of creating such an app til now! i'm sure a lot of talented developers out there would have the skills for this (i wish i did) and can easily whip up the app for eveyrone's benefit.

thanks!

by the way, to exosceleton, you can find the calllogdump program once you install modaco smart journal. it places the exe file in one of the folders in your smartphone, you can look for it then. running the prog will export your current call history into a csv file, viewable in excel.
