Hi there,

I own a Cingular Audiovox SMT 5600 and want to get a 1GB MiniSD card for it.

I've read that the 1GB Sandisk one uses MLC and is not as fast as cards that use SLC.

Is the slower speed of the Sandisk a problem?

Has anyone used the 1GB Sandisk card and tried to watch movies stored on it with Betaplayer or Media Player? Did you have any issues with read speed from the card?

Thanks!

Jacques

That's a C500, right?

I've got a Sandisk 1GB MiniSD card in my C500, and can play films in Betaplayer without problems.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I'm ordering my 1GB Sandisk today! ;)

BanziBarn, how are getting TV episodes onto your phone?

The only way I can think of now would be to use a video capture card to convert whatever I've recorded on my DishNetwork DVR to a file that I can then downsize with Pocket DivX.

The capturing would have to be done in real time. Play the program and wait while my PC captures it.

I got mine from this store here in the US.

http://www.axentmicro.com/huzrb/partdetail...DSDM1024A10.htm

I ordered it Monday night after midnight... they shipped tuesday morning, I got it yesterday afternoon. (note: I am from the same state)

They were very responsive to all my inquiries and my miniSD card is filled with Simpsons, Family Guy, Aquateen, Music, Music, Music!

Sweet stuff!

I got my Sandisk 1Gb miniSD on eBay for $85. I paid a little more because I really couldn't wait to start watching movies on my phone. I've been searching around and I'd say $80-90 is an OK price and anything under $80 is a DEAL.

I've had my miniSD for a week now and I love it. I got 2 full length movies and 70 songs...

Anyone know programs to encode the movie and size it down to the size of your smartphone besides Pocket DivX EncodeR? I've heard that there are programs to keep the movie file small because Scarface took up almost half of my miniSD using Pocket DivX encoder!

If I get one shipped from the USA (ebay), will I be likely to have to pay import duties or anything?

I'm in the UK...

Did you encode it directly from a DVD? If yes, try encoding it into DivX first the re-encode using pocket divx. Using this method I could get The Matrix revolution into 180MB for a full movie.

Yeah I got the movie already in DivX format and then used Pocket DivX Encoder. I chose the highest quality, which is why my files are so big. I want the movies to be as clean as possible so I think it's worth the extra 100mb...

I uses Pocket DVD studio 3. Just wack the DVD in, and press record 8) One episode of the office is 44mb, and the quality is pretty good. You can adjust all sorts of things like the quality of the sound and frame frame rate to tweek the size quality ratio.

As for my Mini SD, I got it from http://www.emartbuy.com/uk/catalog/item/mi...aspx?itemId=486 they still have some in stock it would appear.
