No chance whatsoever. The SD WiFi cards have an external arial so the fact that the MiniSD card is behind the battery rules this out.

Not dumb, but a bit pointless? Why not just use BT?

Because you can't sit in a hotel and connect to a BT network. A small WiFi accesspoint (about the size of a matchbox with a rechargeable battery) could be carried and could sit on the table in said hotel within the 10m radius of my phone. I connect to this via BT and it connects to the WiFi network.....

It's an idea - but I doubt if there is enough demand for it.

I usually have my laptop when I'm in a hotel room.

bluetooth is substantially slower than all flavors of 802.11 so I don't really see an adapter coming out for it. As for a wifi mini-sd card, assuming they did release one, and assuming it didn't have protrusions like the current SD cards (already quite a few prohibitive assumptions) it would be too shielded to ever get a good signal, hidden behind the battery as it is. Unfortunately I don't think you are going to get Wifi in any of the current gen HTC phones. That will likely change in future phones though...

Why not a wifi adapter that fits into the phones small usb slot?

It would need to be a master device as the port on the C500 is a slave.

ummm, you better use your pocket pc in that case. I cant imagine working on the smartphone for wifi. Infact, I cant wait till they stop with smartphones and get a proper phone out like the mpx 300 but smaller/lighter and with GPS and 3G integration.

I already do - I have an Axim X50v and use that for WiFi stuff. I'd just like to go back to a combined device but am spoilt now by the VGA screen....if they came up with an iMate Jam with a higher res screen and WiFi, I'd be off like a shot ;-)
