SPV C500 & TomTom Mobile 5 - How?

Hi,

I have just bought TomTom mobile 5 from ebay and have the following question:

Is there a different version for Symbian based and Windows Based, or is TomTom written in Java or something?

I basically have copied all of the files onto the Phones memory card and nothing happens - no menu, nothing.

What do I have to do to get into the TomTom app and is this even possible if I have an incorrect version?

Examples of the files I've copied onto the card:

System\Apps\

TTMOBILE.APP

TREMOR.DLL

TTMOBILE.aif

TTMOBILE.RSC

TTMOBILE.mbm

TomTom\

data.chk

Voices\

data04.chk

data04.vif

etc etc

Should I be complaining that they've sent me the wrong thing?

Thanks,

James.

I'm running ttm 5 on my spv c500 right now and the only thing i had to do was copy everything to my sd-card (about 8 directories) and restart my phone (which automatically created start menu items)

if this doesnt work you could try opening the file "autorun.exe" from the "2577" folder, this should also create the start menu icons.

Then it definately looks like I have the wrong software version.

There ARE no .exe's, nor is there a 2577 folder.

Where did you get your software?

Thanks.

What did you actuially buy? You can't buy just the s/ware - it is illegal for them to sell it. If you bought the complete package then ToTom will offer tech support.

How can they sell TomTom Mobile 5 on eBay? I thought it was only available from authorised retailers as part of a package with the GPS receiver? :?:

(Edit: Didn't refresh page to see above post before posting mine. )

Someone is selling it on ebay (albeit 4.43 not 5) and stating it works with the C500 / e200 - I emailed him and he said that's what it says on TomTom's website. He didn't have a clue what "Symbian" was and didn't seem to realise that it is illegal to sell it. I have pointed it out to him but doubt if he will take much notice.

I did point out as well that there are different versions for Symbian and Windows mobile - I doubt if he cares.

If you bought this it will not work on a C500 and even if it did it would be illegal.

@ash - maybe you could point your contacts at TomTom in the direction of ebay so they could "have a word" with him.
