Guest zero_divide_1 Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 I have an uncle who wants to get an MPx220 (he saw mine and was wowed by it ;) ), but he knows of the problems that accompanied the unbranded original versions (volume problems, etc.). I just flashed mine to the 1.43 ROM and was wondering if it is at all possible to use that same ROM version and use it on T-Mobile. I'm a Cingular customer, but he's a T-Mobile customer. Any chance that I can flash his if he gets one and have it still work with his T-Mobile subscription? If there are any adjustments that need to be made, what needs to be done and how do I adjust it? Thanks in advance!

I finally gave up and cancelled my $2.99/month subscription since there does not appear to be a solution... never use the thing anyway. Apparently the $19.99 internet plan works just fine though. Besides that, the voicemail icon appears on the screen and can dial out to get voicemail. Haven't found any problem besides the WAP internet.

What about sending and receiving MMS messages?

I use Text messaging all the time. WAP is the only problem I have encountered. Note that WAP and TMobile Internet are two different plans. $2.99 vs $19.95. Wap is a much more restricted.

When I first received my 220 I configured it (using TMobile settings I found via google search) and I was able to access any WAP site via TZones. No problems. However I have since then abandoned tzones for the more useful (and costly) Unlimited Internet package. This gives full Internet access + the tzones. The only thing it does not give you is SMS/Text messaging. For those you either pay per message or buy a bucket of them per month. Note that using MSN Messenger uses standard HTTP so it falls into the Unlimited Internet package. ;)

I have tried so many combinations that I found on the newsgroups, but to no avail. Unfortunately I cancelled my 2.99 tzones, but would still be nice to get the settings.

Call it want you want (I called mine "WAP Connection"). Set the following properties (leave the rest blank): "Connects To" = "wap network" "Access Point" = "wap.voicestream.com" 2) Run IE then goto Menu->Options->Connections->Select Network. Set it to "WAP Network" Give that a shot.
Guest CWebb4 Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 MPx220 Update Problem! I was in the process of installing the update when I got a message on the Detail Screen that said "Fail" so I cancelled the operation and tried to reinstall the whole thing. I however can not do so now because I get an error message when I turn on my phone which reads " MDSXL-4-3280.XL Download incompletely" . Since I can not access my phone and need to have an Activesync connection during the installation, I can not re-install the update. The bigger problem is my phone is now useless since I can not make and receive calls and SMS :) . I really need my phone working again ASAP so please help!!! Thanks, CWebb4

Thanks, CWebb4 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would probably advise a warranty replacement. Otherwise, try hard resetting it, or try the update process without the batter installed (and the phone off) over again. Other than that, I can't suggest anything else.

Guest CWebb4 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 You will need to reinstall ActiveSync and reinstall the Motorola System Update utility. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Problem fixed (finally)! :) I installed the Asian ROM via the Moto Upgrade Wizard since the didn't need an Activesync connection. After successfully doing that, I removed and reinstalled Activesync as suggested. I then used Cingular's System Update since I could now establish an Activesync connection again. Thanks a lot for all who helped :D My only problem now is I can't restore my files, etc. via Sprite Backup. In the process of the Activesync, it tells me to disconnect my phone then reconnect it so that Sprite Backup could sign me in as Guest. Whenever I do this though, I do get signed in as Guest but I get a message on my PC soon after which says something like "Sprite Backup attempted to communicate with the PC with no established Activesync connection". After that I get another error message. Has anybody here using Sprite Backup experienced the same thing? Would again appreciate your expertise. Thanks!
