With no actual experience with Bluetooth and reading all I've been able to find, I'm still confused on the similarities and differences of these two.

Can someone point me towards a good discussion of the two?

Context: I'm looking to buy a new PDA. The one I'm looking at has Bluetooth and capability for a wireless card. I'm just not at all sure what's what and where each might be applicable, useable or preferred.

Hi there!

Bluetooth is a form of wireless connectivity with other devices that have bluetooth...Used to transfer files, play multi player games on mobiles, wireless headsets etc....wifi is the ability to form a wireless connection including internet for example in a hot spot... You can use ur wireless card at any hotspot to form a network and go online there! As far as I know u can't use bluetooth to go online....

I greatly appreciate the feedback - This is what I thought from reading but confirming is a big help.

Also Bluetooth has a range of around 10m. Wifi has a range of several hundred meters(ish).

@mmbecks7- You can use bluetooth for the internet, you need to see the 'pass through' connection in activesync to connect to the internet, however seeing as you have to be pretty much next to your PC, it's quite pointless since you might as well surf the internet on the PC instead.
