Guest machiavell1 Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 Could do with a bit of help on this smartphone. 1. Compared to the Mx220 (for those who have used both), does the slower processor mean slower performance/more lag than the mpx220? 2. Is it less prone to dust under the screen than the c500 was, due to the different design? 3. Can anyone with a qtek 8020 or an imate sp3i tell me what the SAR is? The imate site only allows that kind of info if you have one! Thanks in advance to all!
Guest asphire23 Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 I have a SP3i, I can't answer all your question but I could try for no.3 if you tell me what a SAR is? for no.1 I can tell you this, my imate is MUCH more responsive than my moto V600

The SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is the radiation level of the phone (usually something like 0.43 or 0.79 or similar number between 0 and 1 -sometimes more). It is usually found in the manual (Sometimes on the back) for the phone, or on a leaflet in the box (or sometimes on the box itself). Imate may keep that info on its site also. Do you find the phone freezes up at all? Andhow do you find reception compared to the V600 (which I always found to be very good for calls - both sound and reception quality). How long have you had the sp3i? have you found any dust under the screen like the c500 owners? Thank you!
Guest wochen Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 (edited) Found this in the manual for my 8020: SAR: FCC: (1g) 1900MHZ: Body 0.513 mW/g; Head 0.214 mW/g. CE: (10g) 900MHZ: Body: 0.503 mW/g; Head 0.183 mW/g. 1800MHZ: Body 0.619 mW/g; Head 0.297 mW/g. Edited June 5, 2005 by wochen
Guest PhoenixAG Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 I have an XPhone II (8020). I have had it for a month and there is no dust under the screen. The phone seems fast enough and I don't have to wait for anything to happen. It hasn't really freezed up on me and I have about 49 apps and games installed (at 50, Add/remove list goes blank and I like to have it on the phone).
Guest asphire23 Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 I've had it for 3 weeks, no dust visible so far. I use Cingular and I NEVER had any bad reception. The sound if you are using your earphones is exceptional, I almost didn't believe this is a cellphone at first. What do you mean by freeze? I had 1 occasion that betaplayer freezes on me because I tried to open a corrupt avi file. Other than that everything is fine. SAR: FCC: (1g) 850MHZ: Body 1.560 mW/g; Head 0.357 mW/g; 1900 MHZ: Body 0.696 mW/g: Head 0.439 mW/g

By freeze, I mean the phone jamming up, "thinking" for too long or rebooting - particularly when you are in the middle of something and a call comes in!
Guest scsi Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 I am also very interested in a 8020, and have been reading up on it alot. Still, the phone is almost a year old, and feels somehow outdated. You (or at least I) would never by an ordinary phone that old, and they are not even sold for that long. What do you guys that own a 8020 (or Sp3i) think? Do you miss something that is present in most modern phones? I am aware that the camera is _lousy_, but since I woul'd never use a camera built into a phone, it doesn't matter at all. I am worried that it (well, in fact, all phones whith WM2003 mobile) lacks the standard phone functions. For example, I heard that there actually is no char counter when you a writing a SMS message. Could this really be true? Anyway, I have read alot of reviews and articles comparing the smartphones to eachother, but never with a real/ordinary cellphone. Does it realy stand up to them?
