Guest arawak Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I checked my phones memory this morning and it was saying available memory was 0.73k! Now I foud this surprising as so far as I was aware I had no programs running so where the hell had all the available memory gone :? I switched the phone off and back on again and the available memory shot up to over 7Mb free  What was causing the memory to be so low in the first place? How can I check what programs may be lurking in memory? Any answers would be appreciated. ;) On a plus side once the memory was available again it certainly seemed a lot quicker to get through menu's etc
Guest Deemon Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 I am almost certain that applications do not always shut down once you have exited them. Obvioulsy this will not help. Theres also the possiblity of memory leaks in the apps on the phone...on a normal PDA with more memory thats not such an issue but for a phone with as little memory as we have to play with it is an issue.. This is all stuff that could and should be addressed in the patch. Wouldnt a Task manager be nice ? Then we could tell what programs were actually in memory on the phone....
Guest arawak Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Certainly would be nice and should have been included along with file explorer but then I guess we must have expected too much  Personally I think those things were reasonable to expect and no doubt most of you do too. I guess we shall have to wait and see what the "update" provides us when it does eventually appear.
Guest hardysmith Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Memory management on the SPV is crap - YES. The SPV is bad in too many respects.
