Need HELP from Homescreen Experts !

First, I think that Homescreen Designer (1.3.2) has some serious problem. Sometimes it hangs when it build xml / save / upload to phone; When I choose some colors for striped background into menu, I never get it into the phone (bkg is always white); worst thing, I've done a Homescreen (without special screens except menu background) and after loading into phone (and reset) I completely lost the earphone volume screen !! (when I push up/down volume keys on side of the phone, nothing happens !!) :?: .

So, first question. I can learn main homescreen designing by reading xml in some (already installed) homescreen. But I wish to know how to build a CAB or an HME that installs main homescreen, and other screens (earphone, question, exclamation, menu background, shutdown, etc.) WITHOUT using Homescreen Designer. This is very useful, also because many downloadable packages sometime change these screens, sometime not. So if you install "The incredibles", then "Homer Jay", then "Alina" you have a phone with:

- startup and shutdown screens from "incredibles"

- earphone, exclamation, question, etc, from "Homer Jay"

- and main homescreen from Alina.

Really a big mess :roll: .

Can You help ? Can I find a tutorial somewhere that explain the full story ?? :??: :??:

Hi!

I also noticed those issues with RSHD. I even encountered some homescreen package which are suppose to include splash screens but turns out not to have corresponding registry values for the screens when packed (registry data converted to post-xml codes). I think RSHD should look into that.

As for your question:

I use Ruttensoft as well and i am aware of it's bugs .At your first question with the time u have to wait for it to "cook" the .xml file ,i never had such problems till i installed a firewall ,and as soon as i disabled the firewall things were OK (this might not b the problem though).

I started using Clicks and Tweaks for making the startup ,error ,menu and so on screens and it looks like it is better than Ruttensoft .If u create a .cab using the program mentioned ,if u uninstall it and restart the phone anything goes back 2 normal unlike Ruttensoft that "keeps" some of the screens. I still use Ruttensoft to design simple homescreens and Clicks and Tweaks for the rest .Hope it helps u ! ;)

really cool tool, but could someone please translate the french names i cant differenciate all those screens, as some are similar. so a list with the expressions would be cool.
