Bluetooth headset volume not working

I have an issue with my BT headset in combination with the c500. I am using a Logitech Mobile Freedom headset. My c500 still has the original dutch firmware, Orange NL still has not released ANY update.

Here are the things I found untill now.

When I connect my headset when my keys are NOT locked I can use the volume buttons on the headset. The headset gives me a louder confirmation beep each time I turn up the volume. After I lock the keys the volume buttons on the headset no longer work. I still get a confirmation beep but the beep is not getting louder/softer.

If I connect the headset while my keys are locked I can only change the volume for a couple of seconds and then they don't work anymore.

Could this be caused by the headset or phone? (I am thinking headset because it doesn't work on my SonyEricsson k700i either, but I am not a 100% sure)

Is anybody having the same problem, or can a number of people confirm they don't have the problem? If possible then please mention your headset model and phone firmware.
