Guest Maquina Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 I would lile to know where you guys get the graphics for the 'buttons' that you put on top of your home screen pictures so the text is more readable. I know they are not really buttons just don't know what else to call them. If you guys don't understand my incoherant rabbling here is an example of what i am talking about. http://www.modaco.com/Vulku_Underworld-t208013.html Are these downloadable graphics or do you make your own? If you make your own, how? I have Photoshop 5 and Illustrator (dont recall what version.) And how would i make them transparant so I can see the picture through them? Thanks

Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok I'm not really sure what you mean. The background including what I think you are refering to as "buttons" are just made on photoshop or similar image editing program as a single image and then you use plugins like time date etc. which go on top. When putting them in the homescreen you give the x and y coordinates of where you want them on the image, like on one of the "buttons" or wherever. Here's the background image of the homescreen example you gave (extracted from the hme). Hope I understood correctly and hope that helps! ;) EDIT: O and forgot to say to make them transparent (in photoshop 7 anyway) make each "button" as a new layer then in the layers window you can lower the opacity. There are also other ways so you can get the kind of transparency you want. If you right click on the layer and go to blending options you can select the opacity, and the blend mode you want, including normal, dissolve, overlay etc. and there are some even more advanced options if you want to go mad. But for a simple homescreen just lowering the opacity a bit in normal blend mode should be fine. Edited June 9, 2005 by Jamma14
