Networked unlocked, now cannot application unlock

Apologies if this has already been mentioned anywhere before

Hi, i've recently sold my old E200 to a friend, but he's on O2, we followed the instructions given on how to sim unlock and it works great! We then went to install some other applications and upon reaching this point we were stuck when the phone brought a prompt - access denied. Me quick thinking thought it needed an application unlock, followed the link to the orange developer site - went through the requirements and eventually got the thing unlocked - or so we thought, but we're still getting the error message up, access denied.

My friend is quite rightly annoyed as he'd paid me for a phone that we thought would work, and apparently orange says it cannot be done. Can anyone of you fantastic people out there help us in our quest
