There is always the option to flash your att rom with a cingular rom of the 5600, but just giving you options to hang on to your phone. We don't provide roms or links here, only ideas
Guest rbrewrr Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 I went through this process yesterday and today. I purchased an AT&T SMT5600 at the end of December and didn't want to give it up. The lady at a Cingular store in town offered to call a couple guys in town who unlock Nokia phones - unfortunately they couldn't help me out. Since I wanted to get an additional line for my wife, she switched me from AT&T to Cingular with no early out fees. I did have to go home and pay around $40 to get my phone unlocked. Pretty easy process. Once that happened, I went back and got the SIM card swapped out. Once she activated it, the phone worked, but the Internet settings and stuff needed to be fixed still. I found some great advice on these forums. http://www.modaco.com/SMT_5600_on_Cingular...To-t206009.html has a lot of great info to download. Took me about 1/2 hour to make all the changes - ok, I was working at the same time, so you should be able to crank the changes out in less time. I tested it and it works great now!

Guest whtrose02 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I just got an ATT smt-5600 w/ mMode (off eBay), and it's not letting me access the internet. I contacted cingular about it and they said it had to be re-crysataled or something like that so it could use Cingular's internet.. I have been reading some of these messages and am wondering if Cingular rom flash is what I am looking for? If so where can I find it? I tried the Pirate Bay Torrent thing and got nothing. Thank you very much!!!

If you want to trade phones or something, it will work for both you and me. Send me an email and we can exchange numbers and talk it over or something. I have references on ebay and heatware to boot.
