Is it possible to selective restore/backup?

I usually back up my smartphone everyday using Sprite Backup software. There is one particular application that I use the most. When I back up, program backs up everything (which is not a bad thing). I was wondering if anyone knows how to do selective back up or restore? Another example would be: If some particular file (for example T9) got corrupted or may be I messed up something in the registry, all I want is to restore the registry but don't know how I can do selective restore either?
