Guest faisalm Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I want to be able to store my mp3 ringtones on my SD card in my SMT5600. However, they do not show up in the settings dialog when I try to assign them. Is there any way to do this?

If you have an old ROM on your phone, only WAV and WMA can be used for ringtones. I use MP3-ringtones, which I've just put in the root of my miniSD card. This works perfectly. ;) I don't think the phone is able to find the files for ringtone purposes if they're in a subfolder...

Dan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes your ROM looks old ,try .wma very small difference in quality and also the same size as mp3.
Guest Confused Stu Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Just to qualify the "old" ROM statement for anyone passing and panicing. The 4.1.1.4 ROM is the most recent RELEASED ROM from Orange UK. Orange France have released an upgrade (4.2.2.1) and there is a leaked Orange UK ROM doing the rounds (4.2.1.1) but Orange have not released this yet. To confuse matters further, some new phones from Orange have the 4.2.1.1 ROM on them! In short, if you've still got 4.1.1.4, you are as up to date as you should be and it's just a case of waiting for Orange to release the new ROM (or get hold of a leaked copy). Would be so much less confusing if Orange just released the damn thing! :)

I saw this message 2 times, I think, it is problem of MP3 encoding. Some files works, some don't. Try attached MP3 file, it works on my i-Mate SP3 (ROM - Orange v4.2.2.1) MP3 doesn't work from storage card

Guest alcalina Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 this work to main ring tone only not for custom ring mp3
Guest mikeh81 Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 This reg tweak is not working on my NEW Cingular SMT5600. It was working fine on my old ATTW version. I can get the ringtones to show up as an option in the sound settings by placing them in the root of the storage card and when I go to the sound settings it has the first ringtone selected. I can then click on it and see the rest of my ringtones but when I select one and then go back into sound settings it again has the first ringtone selected again..so basically it sees the ringtones and even plays them when I click on it but will only save and play the first one in the list. I have also used the RJV Reg Tweak Tool and no go..Help please?!?
