Guest gavinchappell Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I have a Orange SPV C500, what are the advantages/disadvantages of following some of the guides here (ie put a Qtek ROM on it)? Are there any speed differences, or extra features (other than Qtek having MP10 which I don't care about)? If the ROMS are significantly different, which is "best"? I realise the disadvantage is a void warranty, but are there any major plus points to balance that?
Guest gavinchappell Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Surely someone can explain this to me, there appears to be enough people on this forum who have swapped ROMs, I'm just curious as to why... Cheers!

Media Player 10 is the main thing (which is a hell of a lot better and worth an upgrade IMO) There are a couple of other minor differences and the newer Roms seem to accept two button presses at once - this is useful in some games where you need to run and jump etc. Personally I would stick with the Orange Upgrades. The UK one should be out any day or if your keen have a good search around and you will find it on the internet already (leaked)
Guest gavinchappell Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 OK, cheers. I don't use WMP so theres no point upgrading\changing the ROM just for that. I was wondering whether some of the other ROMs fixed things like not being able to edit a word properly when writing text (my old T610 would allow you to make the word "active" if you scrolled back over it, so T9 can work its magic. The C500 just lets you delete letters but if you type, it starts a new T9 word so you just end up putting nonsense in as it ignores the context). Since it doesn't sound like this is the case, I'll probably just wait till the Orange one comes out officially and stick that on it.

Guest celica1.8st Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I'm not 100% sure as I haven't got my other c500 here with me, but I'm pretty sure you CAN send files via bluetooth with the built in explorer. I think it goes something like this: Pair the devices On the receiving phone make sure that incoming beams is allowed in the BT setup On the sending phone make sure BT is switched on Find the File in Explorer and click on send using InfraRed (stupidly labled!) and it should work via BT Hope this helps and please let me know if it doesn't - and I'll look at exactly how I did get it to work ;)
