Guest gibbo_ap Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 yesterday i read about the ROM update for the M2000 and went about trying to install it. it got to the installation part where is says dont remove your device etc and my PC crashed!!! now my PDA does nothing exept show the screen saying "SERIAL" and a number any help would be appreciated
Guest Pondrew Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 (edited) Ok. Don't panic. Keep breathing in and out. Only just got back from work or would have helped sooner. I HAVE had this happen to me just recently and for 10mins my MDA III was stuck on the same screen (the bootloader screen). 1st thing to do is take the device out of the cradle and reset it. Aside from the screen flickering nothing will happen. You'll still be on the bootloader screen. Now on your PC, before you replace the device in it's cradle, open taskmanager (ctrl alt del) and kill activesync (select wcescomm.exe under Processes and click End Process). You'll also need to kill the installer program (select BaUpgradeUt.exe under Processes and click End Process). Start Activesync on your PC again. Once you've done that and are sure that you've made sure to turn off your firewall, and with the cradle plugged directly into your PCs USB port (don't use a hub), put the device back in it's cradle. It will remain in bootloader screen and nothing will change. Activesync won't even register the device as connected but that's ok. You now just need to run the update again and be patient. It should proceed to update the device. Let us know how you get on... Edited June 12, 2005 by Pondrew

Guest Pondrew Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 No probs. And as far as Windows Media Player 10 goes you could try either the Imate or Qtek roms. All the info you need is in the Blue Angel wiki pages linked to in your WMP10 thread...
Guest gibbo_ap Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 I got home tried how you suggested and............... IT WORKS thanks soooooo much *runs off to check out that link* cheers
Guest merf99 Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 What ROM update is this please and where did you read about it. I can't find anything.
Guest Pondrew Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 The latest Imate rom includes Windows Media Player 10. Did you find the wiki pages here? It tells you how to upgrade to the latest rom. Downside is you'll lose the Orange specific settings... ... in truth it's not something for the light hearted.
Guest merf99 Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Thanks for that. What are the Orange specific bits that you lose please. Knowing that may help me make the decisions as to wheter to go for this or not.
Guest Pondrew Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Anything put on your device by Orange, all Orange apps, settings, branding.
Guest Wozbacca Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 hi ponderew, i checked through the xda-dev site a few days ago and upgraded to the imate rom 1.40. and all is peachey eccept the mms settings i have read that people have installed a orange settings cab file to put all the mms settings back in place but i cant find it anywhere. i've followed all the suiggested mms settings and it still doesnt work. in my mms inbox, i have one message from my gf, if i click on it, and clickt he download button, gprs appears to dial, but then the icon stays in the top bar and it just says "recieving". it stays like that for ages and nothing more happens. its only a 10k msg so there must be something wrong. any ideas? p.s. wmp10 is genius
