Is this SMT5600 really unlocked?

This phone was purchased off eBay, and certainly does work with MOST SIM cards (Telstra in Australia won't register this phone on their own Telstra network for some reason).

When making calls, there is a small "AT&T Wireless" writen in the uppser right hand corner (even though the phone is currently on a Canadian SIM registered on the Optus Australia network and has nothing to do with AT&T Wireless. The phone also has mMode, which I assume is an AT&T/Cingular thing.

I have tried to unlock the phone again on line, but nothing changes. How do I completely get rid of anything AT&T related?

The phone is unlocked but the AT&T logo crap is supose to stay because the phone u bought came from AT&T so they always make an agreement with the manufacture to have there logo installed with the software for promotion....atleast I have read that u could delete the logo, I have a SMT5600 with Orange in Domican republic and I still get the crappy logo...but hey...we just want the phone to do what it's supose to do...
