Guest Kanga Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 Has anyone managed to connect an additional USB webcam to their C500 and view the image on the phone's screen? I'm wanting to use this facility if possible to monitor my daughter in her rear facing car seat whilst I am sat in the front of the car. In theory it should be possible, a usb webcam linked to an extension cable feeding into the C500, all that would be required is the correct driver for the camera and some software to display the image. It may also be possible to supply power for the phone via a USB hub plugged into the 12V supply in the car or as I've done for my GPS receiver, attach an additional 12V socket, out of sight, behind the dashboard.
Guest Confused Stu Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 From the posts by other, more knowledgable, members of this forum - the USB port on the C500 is a slave port only. This means you can plug it into a USB port (for example, on your PC) but it's not capable of running any USB devices plugged into the phone's port. I think, until someone comes up with a camera that sends it's data by bluetooth, you're stuck with a mirror for the time being. Damn good idea though, although I think in the case of my kids when I'm driving ignorance of what the shouts are about is bliss! ;)
