Guest Syphon Filter Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 Hi there, I've been thinking about getting a PDA for a while now but I just cant justify it as I have an SPV C500 which has all the PDA type functions that I need. Now what would tip the balance would be if a device like the HTC Universal came out which had a harddrive in it. That would boost the value of that device ten fold to me. No need to buy memory cards, ample storage for mp3s/movies and whatever else I may need. How long do you feel that devices like these will become mainstream? Surely with the advent of smaller and smaller harddrives and the cost of these falling surely this is an achievable goal? Maybe I want too much from a device? Ideally I would like a device with: 1. phone 2. 3G data 3. GPRS 4. HDD 5. Wi-Fi 6. Bluetooth 7. VGA screen What are your thoughts? I guess it's just a matter of time before devices like these start to show up but I want one now damn it!!!
Guest Tunney Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Well, it can be only a matter of time and it could possibly happen during early 2006. Already announced we have: Samsung i300: 3GB HD, candybar form-factor, GPRS, Bluetooth 1.1 - no 3G, no WiFi, QVGA screen Nokia N91: 4GB HD, candybar form-factor, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 - low res screen PalmOne Life Drive: 4GB HD, PDA form-factor, Bluetooth 1.1, WiFi, 320x480 pixel display - not a phone So we're getting close. ;)
