Don't get drunk with your smartphone!

This is a reaction (be it very slow) to the trouble i had on a druken night out last friday.

I was to say the least having a very good time - we started in our local and made our way into town, visiting all watering holes on the way.

After an extremely funny visit to KFC (once again i appologise to the staff in there) I realised that my phone had died.... nothing would work, screen was on but no backlight, no buttons would respond etc . . . never mind i can sort that so i rip the battery out and wait a couple of seconds (which considering my state was a marvel) put it back on, booted up the phone . . . nothing, normal bootup, just no responce from keypad for pin entry. . . . i do this a couple of times and start to panic as i was ment to be meeting my girlfriend and im amazingly late, and now shes walking around by herself late at night, and can't contact me.

So i ditch the KFC and me and my mate are running as fast as we can.... luckily shes had the sense to wait inside the pub, but she looks pretty up set . . at this point my smartphone has been dissconnected from is battery for 15 mins. I connect it up and show her that it wasn't my fualt . . .(this is the only point i was glad it didn't work)

Worried that my phone is broken, but drunk enough not to let it spoil the night we go on to a club . . . this is now about 2 hours since the phone had died with several tries to fix it. Standing in the Que for the club i hook it uo for one last try (which now given that i have been danceing for buskers on the street is absolutly amazeing) . . . AND THE PHONE WORKS.

I couldn't believe it, im glad its working, but im so annoyed that i had to go through this. It has brought me to the conclusion that the smartphone is completly unconpatible with people who may not be in the state to fix a crash . . . how will the Windows mobile platform really become fully mainstream if it just means it'll be crashing all the time?

Anyway the device is a c500, i've put it down to its normal reason for when it does this. If i receive a text when the phone is majorly busy, OR when i happen to be pressing buttons it freezes. though its never frozen for this length of time before.

Anyone else been in this situation?

Rarely.

I get drunk almost everyday EXCEPT fridays and sundays ;)

As for the phone, yes it has happened to me (phone not really dead, but not responsive with the red led flashing). All it needed was a quick soft reset.

Your phone probably had a lot of open applications running in the background that you may have forgotten to close (due to your intoxication, perhaps). since it was running low on memory, it hanged not crashed.

The Windows platform for the phone makes it behave very similarly to your PC. So treat it as one. Every now and then, you just have to remember to close any (if not all) running applications to restore precious RAM. If you make this a habit, and if you turn it off for a few hours once a week, your phone will never hang nor crash. (unless of course other factors such as bad apps or faulty tweaking are the cause).

NOPE.

My c500 is solid as a rock.

Maybe think to reload the latest firmware on the phone, just make sure you back it up first.

Nope not loads of apps running.

Phone was rebooted about an hour before. Only thing i could think of was the mass influx of messages and calls you get when your out . . . oh well big mystery
