Guest gtuser Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 I have recently purchased a T-Mobile SDA and have noticed a couple of issues, I have seen these mentioned on this forum but they did not seem to be specifically for the SDA (not sure if it makes a different). My first problem is with the Bluetooth, I am able to send contacts and pair it with my headset but I am unable to transfer files to other bluetooth devices as it cant find any. Is this a known issue with the phone as all of the ones that I have seen (about 6) have the same issue. If it is a known issue then surely someone else has raised this with thier supplier (in my case T-Mobile)??? My second issue is that I would like to use mp3's as my ring tones, and after reading through this forum, reading my manual and speaking to someone else I had resigned myself to converting my mp3's to wma files but I someone showed me their phone today which had mp3 files in th eroot of their storage card which were available in the ring tone list? Any help or feedback on these issues / questions would be greatly appreciated. Gavin
Guest ronswens Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 for the first issue use Smart Explorer (http://www.binarys.com/SmartExplorer_en.asp). It sends files through bluetooth without any problem for the second I'd like to hear the answer also, as far as I know you can you use mp3 ringtones only if you have WMP 10 installed
Guest gtuser Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 With regards to the Bluetooth issue, I have just had 'official' confirmation from T-Mobile that the SDA does not support Bluetooth data transfers and that the manual is incorrect. I will look into the mp3 ringtones and post back later (not tonight though)
Guest dil Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 does anyone else find the volume of thw SDA`to be really low through loudspeaker or normal phone ear peice , is there a tweak for this to turn it upto sp3i amplification?
Guest gtuser Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I tested the speakerphone last night and was not impressed with the volume, but the standard ring is loud enough and I don't use the speaker phone so I am not too concerned with this. One thing that I would like to do is turn the status led off, it must drain a some power and it runs all the time. Sometimes I start to wonder why they call this a 'smartphone', sure its good as a pda but the phone side seems to be lacking in functions & options which other mobiles have as standard.
Guest ronswens Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 gtuser I'm very satisfied with SDA phone, with its features and size, what options and features you don't find in it? There's no need to turn status led off, 'cause it consumes so less power comparing to other parts that you can count that it doesn't need power at all ;)

I have currently downloaded a program which I am having a look which will monitor this. But don't get me wrong, there are many good features about the SDA on the whole which I like, but I do tend to mention things that I think could be better,(like not being able to exit most programs, which means I have to use task manager to close them) and the fact that it has MS Windows does not fill me with confidence (i wonder if I could put linux on it...).
Guest dil Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 i thought i was going mad or deaf thinking the volume was really low from the loudspeaker, the instructions from tomtom are barely audible when in the car. anyone no why the sp3i is so much louder ?
Guest agent.m Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 there are a few gprs monitor programs. After having a normal SPV you sort of accept these smartphones for what they are. but I think it went backwards with the 5way joystick thing.
Guest baldy.baldy Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 first of all gtuser consider why is this phone called smartphone.. Because you can customize it as you can and you can install new applications etc. So dont find any special functions in this mobile.. there are many programs that enables you to do certain things you want... so my advice.. first of all search for them and then ask..
