Way to stop 'deleted items' from syncing?

When I first started using my smartphone, I really can't recall the 'deleted items' folder was syncing with Outlook, as the syncs would go really quickly, maybe 1 or 2 items would need to be synced (those that remained in my Outlook inbox). However, I must have done something to force syncing of my deleted items as well.

The problem is..there is no check box next to the deleted stuff to uncheck it.

Is the problem that you are deleting on the phone and then it deletes in outlook when you sync?

If this is the case. Once deleted on the phone, delete the mail in the deleted folder. I think that gets round it but not sure.

Not even sure I understand the problem, so bit of a guess really.

That's not really it....but thanks for the attempt.

In Activesync on the PC, you have the option to select which folders you would like to have synced. They include all the folders you have created, including the inbox, in the "personal folder", or something like that.

Anyways, when I originally started using the phone, syncs would be very quick, and at the time, I thought it very intuitive of MS not to sync the 'deleted items' folder in Outlook. However, as of the last few weeks, when I connect, activesync says it must sync a very large amount of mails.

I attributed this to some sort of database corruption and a rebuilding of the database at each sync. Then, it dawned on me that activesync was then syncing my 'deleted items' folder, as I now have a copy of all my deleted emails on my PC now on my phone, which of course is not necessary and results in unwanted sync times, especially over bluetooth.

Is everyone else's activesync doing the same thing? i.e. making copies of your deleted items onto your phone?
