C500 Profiles

Hi,

I've just moved from an Ericsson T610 and I can't say how pleased I am with the C500.

I just wonder if someone can help clarify profiles for me.

On the T610, when I plugged in the headset, the profile changed to headset.

When I charged the phone, no profile change was needed or happened.

When I plugged in the headset while it was charging, the profile changed to headset.

When I plugged the phone onto the car holder, the profile changed to handsfree/car.

All fine - no problem - there was quiet a complicated set of connections on the plugs to enable this to happen.

Now on the C500, we only have the usb port and the headset socket.

If I plug in a heatdset, the profile changes to headset - fine.

I couldn't find a decent car holder for the C500, so I'm modifying my Ericsson one to take the usb port.

If I add a headset plug (to match up with the socket), the profile will change to headset, which is not what I want.

When I'm in the car, I want to use the speakerphone profile, so I don't have to wear the headset (I've got funny ears and the buds won't stay in).

What I don't understand is how the profile can automatically change to something other than headset, when it only has these two connestions.

Do I assume that this can't be done automatically ?
