Guest Alex_le_brit Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Ok so not, where do I copy a cab file across to if I want to install a new program, but where does the activesync install put them if I run the installer on my PC? No matter how much I fish round my SPV (Smartphone 2002) I can't seem to find them anywhere. I'm looking for them when it says that the CAB file has been downloaded correctly to the phone and I can now select the installation location, but before I've actually installed anything. Where are they going?
Guest drblow Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 nearly all apps get installed into the programs folder in either storage, or storage card. you should see them using a file manager. The installation procedure states that the cab file has been downloaded, even if you just use a pc install, but it's just terminology - there is nothing else to install, and there will be no trace of the cab file on your phone. As long as apps are installing ok, then just ignore the message.

Guest Alex_le_brit Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 I agree <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn....... I was hoping the CAB file would be sat there somewhere so I could copy it. Surely there must be some installer file transfered to your phone from the PC installer?
Guest drblow Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 There is. But once it's unpacked then it is removed or deleted from the phone - at least I have never seen one anywhere on my phone. Why do you want to get the cab file anyway, if you have the PC installer?
Guest Jamma14 Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Once you've run the installer, it will place a copy of the cab it transfers to you device into your ActiveSync installation folder on your computer (for me C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync). So that's the place to look if you want to get the cab files.

Oh and I want the cab file because I want to run it on my emulator, and for some reason I can't get it to do it if I have to PC install. And don't ask why I want to run it on the emulator
Guest Jamma14 Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 But apps have to specially compiled for the emulators, if you have a normal smartphone app they won't work even if you install by a cab?? I think. ;) Does it work for you?
