C500 Alerts as opposed to ringtones

Recently got an SPV C500. I've downloaded ringtones to it and managed to sort those out. However I'm lost about using those ringtones or noises as alerts like for SMS , emails, etc.

Can anybody tell me what to do because I'm convinced it can be done. Apologies if this has been asked before. Help appreciated.

Should be simple enough, so I guess if you're having problems it's that the format you are using isn't one that you can use for alerts.

I use WAV files, so I know they work, but some formats won't work and TBH I can never remember which do and which dont. Have a search of the forums for "+alert +format" and you should find better info.

But anyway, assuming you have a WAV to use, go to the same place you did for your ringtone: Settings - Sounds and just choose the WAV for New SMS, New Email, New instant message etc etc

Thanks for that.

I've re-checked everything and even downloaded one or two sounds in WAV format again (PCM) just to make sure and they're fine as ringtones, but can't get them in as SMS/EMAIL alerts despite what you've suggested.

Thanks for that. Yes the downloaded sounds are in that folder/file. I can pick them up through ringtones, but they don't come through on the other sounds settings like email alert, SMS alert, etc.

Anymore advice would be appreciated.

I've tried the R2D2 ringtone. I have been able to use it as a ring tone but not as an alert.

When I go to settings, then sound, when I scroll through the ring tone setting, R2D2 is there along with all my other sounds, etc. When I move down to reminders/new email/new SMS, etc, etc, and then scroll across the available sounds, then R2D2 and all the other sounds are not there apart from the original standard options, like sunnyday, tremor, etc.

I don't think sending you the other sounds will help. It's more about how I access these sounds etc, through the various files in the phone.

Cheers

That's odd then

That R2D2 wav came straight off my phone as my SMS tone, so there should be no reason why you can't use it.

I hate to say it, but have you tried a Hard Reset?

Hard reset being? I'm afraid I don't what that is all about. Can you talk me through it and what happens? Do I lose stuff already put on the phone and it goes back to factory settings or something?

Cheers and thanks for your patience
