Guest giove Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Hi All I just got my new phone (SPV c500), and I am completely new to smartphones, so I will probably be posting lots of basic questions. I have just downloaded a game from this site, unzipped it and got a .exe file. I copied this file onto my phone, (windows folder) but I have no idea now how to start the game. Can anyone help me please? thanks gIO
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Welcome to the forum ;) Is it SPVMan or SPV Invaders ? If so, get it out of your Windows folder ! This folder is rewritten every time you restart your phone, so you will lose it. Instead, paste it onto your storage card (or a folder on there) and right-click, copy, browse to \Storage \Windows \Start Menu \Games, right-click again, Paste Shortcut, rename... Click on the 'First 48 Hours' link in my sig for installation instructions for the various file-types.
Guest giove Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Hi Disco Stu Thanks for your help, it all went very well - I am gonna start reading your "First 48 hours" article, it looks packed with usefull information. The only problem I have now , when trying to play the game, is that I get an error message saying that "this is not a valid Windows CE application" I bet you were expecting this question... cheers gIO
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 That normally means you're trying to run a Pocket PC game on a Smartphone, but I think those 2 games are compatible with both devices. So I'm going to assume that you need to application unlock your phone to run them and that the error message is an error ! I'm in a rush, so can I point you to the Quick Links thread pinned at the top of the Help & Advice section.

Guest tomes Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 I may be way off (still didn't receive my smartphone, so all I know is from browsing the web), but it looks like sometimes when you download an .exe file, it is meant to be run from the computer (or through activesync?) and it will then put in place the necessary files on your smartphone.

Guest giove Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Hi All I have deleted the game, and re-install it from my pc, and yes it works now , no error message anymore. >>as a rule of thumb I try to run it on the pc first, if it days "invalid application blah blah" then I assume it's a phone exe thanks you all giove
