I can only help on this one I am afraid.

Start>Profiles

Highlight normal and press right soft key "Menu".

Select Edit

You can then select the relevant sounds/vibrate or both

Good luck on the other questions

ok thanks for that. how comes on volume control on the side of the phone nothing appears to happen when i try to change the volume. on my e100 when clicked, the screen changed to a volume bar.

It should come up with the standard 'Loudspeaker' screen with the bar.

Are you getting the graphics but no bar ? Might be a text colour problem with the skin you've got loaded.

Make sure you are at the homescreen when you try it. If nothing comes up thats sort of weird... What if you adjust in while in a call?

Without looking I don't know if there are any Settings you can mess with that would make that appear/disappear...

Strange. Well, does it change the volume at all? I know you said nothing displays, but you said it beeps. So if you turn it up is the speaker louder, or does it not do anything?

i dont think that the volume it changing because the beep notice when a button is clicked sounds the same, although i did put the ringing volume to 4 and the button click volume to 1 on the normal profile.

Try calling someone and changing the volume while in the call. You'll know right away whether its working or not...

i tried a phone call and nothing appears on the screen although the volume does change up and down.

i take it this isnt normal. how can i resolve this?

No, that's not normal. When at the homescreen and you change the volume with the rocker/switch on the top left side, you should have a screen appear that says "Earpiece Volume", with a pic of a speaker in the background, and a horizontal "progress" bar that shows the level of the volume.

It sounds like its working in reality (changing volume), but that isn't normal. Unless someone else knows of someway that would be disabled or how to enable it, I would say either just deal with it (as long as the volume actually works), or call whoever you bought it from...
