Hi,

I currently own an Ipaq 5555, and SPV 200.

My orange contract is up and I am thinking of upgrading to M2000 - to replace both devices.

One question that I cannot see mentioned in this forum - is whether any of you actually dislike the form factor.

The M2000 is similiar in size to my Ipaq yet I can't imagine holding that to my ear to make a call.

....also with mob5 being released and the C550 coming, I am concerned that I am going to be locked into a new contract with a piece of kit that cannot have the ROM upgraded unless its from a not orange source.

Anyway, would be interested in your experience of using the M200 in the real world.

Thanks

Matt

I had a PDA2k for a couple of months and it is a bit massive to carry around and use as a phone. Plus the screen gets loads of ear dirt on it too. :|

got and sp3i phone now which is much more convenient but I am guessing not got enough PDA type stuff for you.

It's not that bad, honestly.

Ust the handsfree kit, and you won't be as concious of the size. It's invaluable to be able to Terminal Service in to a server whilst on a train, and do some housekeeping on remote boxes.

Plus the wifi on the platform on Cardiff Queen Street is good ;-)

i concur with the above, i got mine yesterday. yes it is bigger than your average phone but to be honest it should be with all it offers. but saying that i had a p900 before and it isnt much bigger than that. Mine was fine until i decided to give it a go while out on the ale. it fitted fine nin the pocket but txt'ing was a bit of a pain having to pull the keyboard out or getting the stylu out every time and if you are anything like me with mates all over the town you txt quite a bit on a night out so ive now decided to use my p900 out on the piss. no big deal.

Also everyone wants to know what "that brick" is in your hand, you explain and show then and i couldnt put it back in my pocket all night as people were wanting a go on it.

those two points aside it s a great phone, instructions are shite and its very wierd in the first few hours to use if you havnt used a windows phone before.

Im chuffed to bits with mine, and all for a bargin £50. cheers orange.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments.

Still thinking about it. Went into O2 and saw the IIi - didnt think it looked that big really - about 0.5cm smaller in length and width than my Ipaq.

I might just keep my E200 just in case.

Also looked on that wiki site for upgrading the rom - they said that there were issues with the v1.40 ROM one of which was exiting from WM player and loosing sound. Does this really happen? I use WM on my E200 all the time, so dont really want this big an issue. Is this an issue with the Orange ROM?

Thanks in advance.

yes it is big compared to new phones

however it is very small compared to a computer

function over fashion!

for the amount of things you can do, and how versatile a product it is. its small

If you honestly beleive that a large phone is too 'uncool' to use then forget about it.

On the other hand, if you are not 'vain', and want the most useful phone / pda on the market, then don't even hesitate, its worth evry penny and loads more.

What is the point in carrying around a big pda, and a small phone, when its available all in one extremely usefull stylish package.

One tip tho, steer clear of Vodaphone..........tech support is useless.

and steer clear of the O2 version (black) it looks cheap and plasticy, and when scratched looks extremely tatty

to sum it up

Stop being so bloody vain and just buy it

LOL Thanks for your response!! I should have updated my thread and said that I took the plunge and got one ...Told Orange I was going to leave and managed to get the M2000 for an upgrade fee of £49.99!!

With the PPCTechs adaptor and my own headphones (Ones supplied were rubbish), I can listen to music, hear a tone come through take the call and then carry on listening to music with nothing being disconnected in between!!!

Storing all my accounts on it (Password Protected of course) with Cash Organiser, and went on a long trip using CoPilot and the Fortuna Bluetooth GPS receiver all worked perfectly.

I agree I can do absolutely everything I want with this phone and have only had one hard reset when I installed a particular "commercial" app which I wont mention....Thanks heavens for Sprite Backup!! (Although it corrupted my SMS/MMS dB's...but got round it)

Most useful Apps. Pocket Plus, SPB GPRS Monitor, Cash Organiser, Phone Plus SE, PPPCProfiles-Pro (Thanks Bretto), HanDbase, SPB Weather.

Games performance is OK but have noticed its far better when in flight mode.
