i have lost the sound bar on the screen when trying to change the volume which i have been told may be because of a theme being uninstalled. apparently, if i hard reset the phone it will bring it back but the phone has a sim unlock installed on it. i was just wondering if i hard reset the fone, will it wipe the sim unlock?

You will still be SIM-unlocked but you'll have to application unlock again.

A hard reset will get you back to the state the phone was in when it left the factory, so it should do. As long as the ROM itself is not corrupted you should get all normal functions back.

Don't forget to back up your Contacts etc first as they will all be wiped. You can also use ActiveSync to make copies of your My Documents folder etc.

Until you've done it the first time a hard reset can seem quite scary but, believe me, it's a great feeling having a clean phone to play with again. You'll notice the improvement in performance. It's quite a straight-forward procedure. Some of us do it regularly just as a spring-cleaning exercise.
